Hello, My name is Navneet, and today I’m going to be presenting to you my biography of Martin Luther King Junior!Michael King was born on January 15, 1929. Martin’s name was changed after his father, Martin Luther King Sr met the Protestant Reformation in Germany, Martin Luther. He was so inspired that not only he changed his name but also his 5-year-old son’s name to Martin Luther. Martin has 2 siblings, A.D. King and Christine King Farris. King entered College at the age of 15. He was such a smart and gifted student that he got to skip grades nine and 12! He enrolled into the Morehouse college. Although he was the son of Baptist Ministers, he did not intend to follow the family vocation until a friend convinced him otherwise. After earning a degree at Crozer Theological Seminary. He attended Boston University, where he received his Ph.D.Martin was imprisoned 29 times! He was arrested for civil disobedience and preventable charges. Such as in Alabama, in 1956 for driving 30 miles per hour in a 25 zone.Martin Luther King was very important of American civil rights movement. He was famous for using non-violent resistance to overcome injustice. He did all this to show people, “men were all made the same.” He never got tired to end racist laws, such as black people not entering public schools and restaurants.King escaped an assassination. A decade before his death, King narrowly escaped an assassination. He was in Harlem signing copies of his newer book, when a woman approached him and asked him if he was Martin Luther King. When he said yes, she plunged a seven-inch letter opener in his chest.In August 1963, calling an end for racism, he spoke the words, “I have a Dream.” These four words have become some of the most well-known phrases in America’s African-American History.At the age of 35, Martin was the youngest person to ever recieve a nobel peace prize.On April 4 1968, while leading a protest march for garbage workers, he was shot.
